A Message From the Publisher

Fall 2026 at Thistledown Press brings a harvest of stories that uplift and entertain.

Apron Apocalypse: Lyric Essays, by Saskatoon poet and novelist Jeannette Lynes, delves into the challenge of building a life as a writer and as an independent woman. In these diverse, harrowing, and often funny essays, Lynes literally cuts the apron strings of her rural and hardscrabble childhood and builds the life she chooses for herself.

Revered Alberta author Fred Stenson’s new novel, Carpenter Creek, is a quirky, episodic narrative in which a small town journalist doggedly produces a weekly newspaper amid the constant threat of devastating wildfires, while looking back on his life of misdirection and misadventure, and at the same time unravelling the mysteries of the lives of the people he grew up with.

And finally, Sadi’s Dragons is a middle grade novel by Bev Brenna, a prolific Saskatchewan author of books for children. In this heartwarming story, an abandoned eleven-year-old girl with a talent for making art encounters a confused and lonely elderly woman. These two disparate characters forge a complex bond that, in the end, saves them both from the dragons that threaten them.
