A message to authors and readers from the publisher

On October 15, 2020, I took ownership of Thistledown Press. I am grateful to the founders of this venerable press and to Al and Jackie Forrie for all they’ve done to bring good writing to the public for the past 45 years. I want to assure anyone who reads this message that my intention is to respect the legacy of Thistledown and to continue to publish high quality literary work by writers from across Canada, with a particular focus on Western Canadian authors. To that end, I’ve hired two amazing people who are highly qualified to lead the Press into its next incarnation. The new managing editor is Caroline Walker, a highly organized and energetic individual who brings to bear more than a decade of experience in the publishing industry, as well as two decades of inventory management at McNally Robinson Booksellers. For questions about the business aspects of Thistledown, please contact Caroline at [email protected]. The new acquisitions editor is Elizabeth Philips, a Saskatchewan poet, novelist and editor. In addition to her writing and editing skills, Liz brings experience in acquisitions and management from her roles as director of Writing With Style at the Banff Centre, and as editor of Grain magazine. For information about submissions, contact Liz at [email protected]. The head office of the press will remain in Saskatoon. Same phone number, different address. See the Contact page for details.

Onward to the next 45 years of great writing and reading!
